Guest Experience & Reviews Positive feedback praises: Sparkling cleanliness and comfortable, spacious rooms Helpful, hospitable staff and overall pleasant hospitality Complimentary breakfast and convenient access to nearby historical spots Negative reviews highlight: Remote or less accessible location, which might be inconvenient for exploring central Varanasi Issues such as stained linens, inadequate cleanliness, poor maintenance of bathrooms, plumbing issues, and overall subpar service Guests recommended bringing personal basics like toiletries and mosquito repellent due to reported hygiene and facility gaps --- Summary Table Feature Details Location Sarnath, near Chaukhandi Stupa & Giant Buddha Statue Hotel Type 3-star, ~22 rooms Room Features AC, TV, seating/dressing area, electric kettle Amenities Parking, toiletries, breakfast, Wi-Fi Pros Clean rooms, polite staff, good breakfast, proximity to attractions Cons Hygiene concerns, maintenance problems, remote location, service issues --- Final Thoughts Hotel Moti Mahal in Sarnath could be a suitable choice if you're traveling on a budget, value historic proximity, and don't mind its somewhat tucked-away location. Its strong points are its comfort, basic amenities, and closeness to Sarnath’s spiritual sites. However, if impeccable cleanliness and top-notch service are high on your list, you might want to explore alternative accommodations. I booked Deluxe Double Bedroom for 4 nights, on first day of my arrival they gave me a room with sharing bathroom, and told me by mistake we booked your room.. On next day they shifted me to a room but that was also not Deluxe Double Bedroom. It was very small Room no.205. Room was although clean. They don't have any restaurants or kitchen. They just have a dirty room where they cook for their own. They provide breakfast for guests from nearby roadside stalls (thela) which certainly gotta be tasteless, cheap and completely unhealthy, I threw them in dustbin. You cannot watch TV because they don't have cable connections and their WiFi speed is very slow, so watching TV by WiFi is also not possible. They don't have any lifts or maximum amenities as described on Fab Hotels App. They just have three full time staffs among them one who is Mahendra Pandey as far as I remember his name who is very talkative and cunning, he is caretaker of this place. He think and believe everyone is fool and will fool customers by his sweet talks. I went there after reading Good Reviews, but realized most Reviews are fake reviews, in one sentence. I GOT CHEATED.
Not a good place to stay with your family. Room beds are hard and soggy, bathroom is average, no room service available, no dustbin placed inside room. Overall cleanliness of guest house is average.
I had a very disappointing experience with this hotel. My booking was denied at the property despite having a confirmed reservation, and the full amount was already paid in advance. Upon arrival, I was informed that the hotel could not accommodate my stay, which caused significant inconvenience, last-minute stress, and disruption to my travel plans. This situation was completely unprofessional and unacceptable, especially after confirming and paying for the booking. Although the refund was later initiated after follow-up, the experience left a very negative impression. I would strongly advise future guests to double-check availability directly with the hotel before arrival, even if the booking is confirmed online. Overall, poor coordination and lack of accountability. Very disappointing experience.
This hotel is the most horrible, unprofessional, and scam-filled place I have ever come across. Honestly, this hotel should be shut down immediately. We booked the hotel through Agoda and received a confirmed booking. When I called the number provided, the manager told me they don’t deal with Agoda at all and asked me to cancel the booking and book directly with them for ₹2500 per night. I agreed because we needed a place to stay. When Agoda tried to verify the booking, the owner refused to answer their calls, clearly proving they were lying and trying to cheat travellers. When we reached the property, the manager changed his story again and said the ₹2500 room had already been given away, and the only room available would cost ₹3500 per night. We had no option left at that moment, so we agreed — and that turned out to be a huge mistake. The moment we entered the room, we were shocked: Spider webs everywhere Beds not dusted at all Dirty, stained bedsheets Broken almirah Broken window — anyone could force it open and enter the room No towels, no water bottles, no toiletries The blanket was so small it couldn’t even cover one adult Floors were filthy and looked like they hadn’t been cleaned in ages And worst of all, there was barely anyone in the hotel, giving it a completely unsafe and abandoned feeling I genuinely don’t understand how this place is still operating. It is disgusting, unsafe, dishonest, and a complete scam. No hygiene, no professionalism, no security — nothing. Avoid this hotel at all costs. It can completely ruin your trip. If I could give zero stars, I would.
I wanted to give negative ratings to the Fab Hotels and the property if google has given that option to us. My worst experience ever till now. Poor and disgusting rooms, unhygienic washrooms. Even after complaining to fab hotels customer support they didn’t resolve the issue. Hotel staff were very care less and non responsive. There was no lift in the hotel so elderly people had to climb up to the third floor for their rooms. After many requests to provide a room on the first floor they didn’t listen to us and we had to manage somehow by climbing up to the third floor. The hotel staff was only entertaining and responding to those customers who had their booking directly with them and not via online. But the offline booking customers were suffering also. Worst experience ever, do not book with them because the pictures given online doesn’t match with the actual property at all. They all are lying to us.
All good reviews are positively fake. I do not believe that so many guests have found this filthy hotel to be worthy of 5 star. The rooms are dank, shabby and foul smelling. "Premium" rooms are mere boxes with zero ventilation and common exhaust shafts for washroom, however that works. There were tens of labourers working within the hotel during the stay which made me feel extremely unsafe. There's no restaurant facility and the staff approach is a joke in the name of hospitality. They won't be able to provide you with a single spoon. The washrooms are dirty, uncleaned and without toilet seat covers. There's no basic amenities such as room cleaning service, towels or even a simple handsoap. The staff is housed just beside the guests' rooms and you'll be able to smell week-old stale food and piss from their rooms. A request for tea will take an hour to be fulfilled. Absolute worst.
If you want flies, mosquitoes and spiders as uninvited guests in your overpriced room, then this is the hotel to be in. I have a broken leg, and asked the staff over phone if elevators were available. They lied and said yes. So I had to climb up to this pest ridden rooms that smelt of piss and poop because we had to have a place to stay in. There's no room service, no restaurant, no cleanliness and no light as most rooms do not have windows and share washroom shafts with other common washrooms which was flooded by the labourers who were working during the stay. So we had to walk on wet corridors to and from our rooms which made them even more dirty and stay on like that because there's no service facility available. This is hole in the city of Varanasi. Made our experience absolutely miserable.
