About Mambakkam
Mambakkam is a neighbourhood in the southern part of Chennai in the state of Tamil Nadu. This place is fast developing into a sought-after residential area owing to its greenery, less polluted air and Mambakkam Lake. Besides the nearby Karnai Reserve and the lake, this place is replete with major establishments, including offices, hospitals, churches, temples, and Chennai hotels. In addition, the neighbourhood lies in the vicinity of prime educational institutions, such as Vellore Institute of Technology and Dr Ambedkar Government Law College.
Shopping and Dining in and around Mambakkam
Along with a number of shops and supermarkets, Mambakkam hotels are located close to many popular malls. Shopaholics mostly prefer to shop at the Marina Mall and Vivira Mall, which are around 8 km away from the neighbourhood. Both these malls have food court and several restaurants that offer a comprehensive spread of delicious dishes. Besides these, tourists can dine at the lavish as well as pocket-friendly restaurants in and around Mambakkam, such as Venkey’s Biryani, Luluva Family Restaurant, Tongue Restaurant, and the humble yet famous Ambrocias, to name a few.

Other places worth exploring include the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and Centre for Herpetology (17.3 km), Dakshinachitra Museum (23.2 km), Guindy National Park (27 km), Arulmigu Kapaleeswarar Temple (30.5 km), Krishna’s Butter Ball (32.2 km) and Pancha Rathas (35.4 km) to name a few.
How to Reach Mambakkam
Travelling to and from Mambakkam is a breeze as the neighbourhood is served by all major modes of public transportation, such as buses, taxis and autos. By taxis or cabs, it takes up to 50 minutes to cover the distance of 21.8 km between the neighbourhood and Chennai International Airport. Besides, Chennai Central or Puratchi Thalaivar Dr M.G. Ramachandran Central Railway Station is farther north and can be reached in around 1.5 hours from hotels in Mambakkam (35 km away).

Service of the staff was just exceptional - from the manager to the restaurant staff to the reception, everyone went out of their way to be helpful and attentive. Small gestures such as helping with calling a Doctor, or checking on needs of our children showed a genuine interest from the staff in being helpful. For example, the food had not been prepared as expected and the staff immediately replaced the item with an alternate without anything.

Am writing to express my disappointment with my recent stay at your hotel. The air conditioning was ineffective despite being set to 18°C. There was no bottled water, towels were missing on arrival, and the room had mosquitoes with an empty repellent. The bed linen was also in poor condition. We had to request basic essentials multiple times. The unresponsive service and lack of basic hospitality made the experience frustrating. For the price charged, the quality of service and facilities was unacceptable. I will not return or recommend this place to anyone.

Rooms needs improvement, no mirror, toilet seats broken, noisy fan and AC, needs big improvement on quality and value for money. Receptionist was kind enough to give 2 hrs extension to check out. Rest all needs improvement. Not worth 3K

last week unknowingly i booked room in this Hotel. Horrible hotel to stay. Book this only as a last resort. Not even complimentary water bottle was given, room full of cockroaches, nasty washrooms broken toilet seat, no intercom, no phone to contact reception also , even coffee/ Tea not available , no room service, no parking space, cleaning staff not available, very rude reception staff, they act as if we are asking room for free. they charge 25 rs for local brand water bottle which they get for 5 rs. all good reviews given by their own people. dont book here
