About Oragadam, Chennai
Oragadam is a major industrial area in the Chennai Metropolitan Area (CMA). Located on the outskirts of Chennai, about 53 km southwest of the city, it is one of the fastest-growing suburbs in the region and among the largest automobile hubs in the country. This industrial belt houses several Fortune 500 companies and manufacturing as well as automobile giants including Samsung, Yamaha, Dell, Motorola, Daimler, Renault, Apollo Tyres, and TVS, to name a few. Located centrally between NH 45 (also called GST Road or Grand Southern Trunk Road) and NH 4, the area also enjoys smooth connectivity with neighbouring localities. The area witnesses a steady influx of travellers and some of the best budget and business hotels in Chennai are located in and around the locality.
Shopping and Dining in and around Oragadam
Oragadam is primarily an industrial hub, so you won’t find any high-end malls or shopping complexes in the locality. However, there is a decent range of stand-alone shops and stores where you can buy all essential items. Guests staying at hotels in Oragadam can also head off to nearby shopping hubs in Chengalpattu (19 km), Tambaram (25 km), and Chromepet (30 km). The town is also located close to Kanchipuram (35 km) where you can buy beautifully designed silk saris. Many hotels in Oragadam, Chennai have in-house restaurants to cater to their guests. Some of the best restaurants in and around Oragadam are Hotel Amma, The Punjabi Dhaba, Zephyr Bar and Kitchen, and Miyabi, to mention a few.
Places to Visit in and around Oragadam
Even though Oragadam is an industrial belt, you will find a good range of tourist attractions in and around the locality. Vallakottail Murugan Temple (7 km) is a major place to visit in Oragadam. Since Kanchipuram is located a short drive away, you can plan a visit to Kailasanathar Temple, Kamakshi Amman Temple, Varadaraja Perumal Temple, and Ekambareswarar Temple, among others. Vandalur Zoo or Arignar Anna Zoological Park, located about 23 km from the town, is another top attraction to visit while staying at Oragadam hotels. The locality is also in close proximity to Sriperumbudur, the place where Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated. If you have some extra time in hand, you can also plan a visit to the Rajiv Gandhi Memorial (20 km).
How to Reach Oragadam
The nearest airport to reach Oragadam is Chennai International Airport (35 km) while Chennai Central, the major railhead in the city, is about 55 km away. The fastest and easiest way to reach your hotels in Oragadam from these transportation hubs is by using pre-booked taxis or cabs. Oragadam doesn’t have a metro station or suburban railway station of its own; the nearest railway station is in Palur (14 km), on the South Line of Chennai’s Suburban Railway Network. Other stations to access the town are located in Chengalpattu (20 km), Vandalur (21 km), and Tambaram (25 km). You will also get buses to get in and around the locality and all major neighbourhoods in the CMA.

We had booked a couple of rooms for a marriage function, but it turned out to be a horrible experience. There was no proper water supply, which caused a lot of inconvenience for all the guests. Such basic facilities were not managed, leaving us extremely disappointed. Definitely not recommended for staying during important occasion.
FabHotel Welcome Inn
To begin with, while checking in, the staff refused to accept the rates quoted on the website, which was 1600 and instead charged 2500. Secondly, the rooms were not even worth the 1600. The entire room was stinking and the trash from the previous occupants were not even cleared. The floor was sticky both in the rooms and bathroom. The spring mattress was visibly worn out and damaged and had sunk in the middle. Furniture were creaky. There were cockroaches in both the room and bathroom. The TV was not working and the STB was not even mounted, it was just hanging by the wires. Need to appreciate the audacity they had to charge 2500 for this room, let alone 1600. Overall, highly recommend not to go here at all. Definitely not worth. Worst experience ever. Never considering Fabhotels ever again. They should probably shut shop if they cant guarantee a minimum experience for their customers.

# Hotel staff bad behaviour # Don't book this hotel I had booked 3 rooms through FabHotels for 8 members, with advance payment made well in advance. However, when we arrived at the hotel late at night—after travelling all the way from Chennai Central and spending ₹2000 on an Ola cab—we were shocked to hear from the hotel owner that no rooms were available. This was completely unacceptable and highly unprofessional. We were left stranded on the road at midnight, with no help or alternative provided by the hotel staff. Imagine 8 people, including elderly members, standing outside in the dark, exhausted and helpless. Despite confirming the booking and payment, the hotel had no sense of responsibility. This is not just poor management—this is fraud. Shame on this hotel and FabHotels for ruining our night and putting us at risk. I strongly advise everyone to avoid this property. Don’t trust the online booking—you might be left on the street like us.

Worst, AC unit water is dropping on your head while sleeping. No waters in bath room, none of the bath room fitting are good, , water quality is even worst enclosed image refer that.

I booked 3 rooms for one night for guests who were coming for an event in Chennai. The service was horrible and the stay was an absolute nightmare. My guest had to leave the room in the morning before 6 to attend the event, but there was no water supply in the room, when they asked the receptionist he was very irritated because they woke him up from his sleep and he refused to switch on the motor, he said he would do it only when he feels like it. When asked for the manager's number to complain he behaved as if he were the manager and replied I do not care go ahead and complain to whoever you want. He was scarring my guest and they felt very unsafe to talk with him further. Besides that, even the rooms were worse. Eventually, they had to miss the event because of him. Please do not ever reserve your booking in this hotel EVER.

Cracked flooring, stinky bathroom, and worst of all unclean and stained bed sheets. Absolute waste of money. Mind you they rate themselves as 3 star hotel and charge accordingly. So Absolute waste of money Had to ask for numerous replacements of sheets with all of them stained. Finally had to settle for something as we had paid for the stay. Staff are responsive but are clueless about cleanliness. All in all would not recommend this place. Toilet maintenance not done properly even after repeated request we couldn’t get a stain free commode. Frustrating to give instructions to staff on how to do their job. Definitely not for family and are sensitive to cleanliness and ventilation. The AC duct outlet has been left into bathroom, this continuously keeps sending the water. Rusted shower overhead. Overall bad.
