About Gandhi Ashram, Ahmedabad

Gandhi Ashram, one of the most visited tourist attractions in Ahmedabad, has been referred by many names over the years - Satyagraha Ashram, Harijan Ashram and Sabarmati Ashram. The ashram served as home to Mahatma Gandhi and his wife Kasturba Gandhi for many years – from 1917 to up to 1930. Located on the banks of Sabarmati River, this 36-acre ashram is the site from where Gandhi launched Dandi March in 1930. There are many in-house establishments like the museum and Hriday Kunj that provide a glimpse into Gandhi’s life and ideologies.
