FabHotel Shiv Mahima
Recently, my friend and I visited Jaipur for a couple of days and stayed at Shiv Mahima Hotel. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most unpleasant hotel experiences I have ever had. We arrived at the hotel around 9:00 AM, while the official check-in time was 12:00 PM. Since rooms were available, we requested an early check-in. However, the hotel charged us an additional ₹300 for the early access. In my previous experiences, hotels generally accommodate early check-ins without extra charges if rooms are vacant. Though disappointed, we paid the amount and proceeded with the check-in. The room itself was decent and reasonably clean, so there were no major complaints regarding cleanliness or basic amenities. However, the behavior of the hotel staff was not professional. Additionally, the room keys and other materials provided appeared to be of very low quality. On the same night, while stepping out for dinner, the room key broke as we were locking the door. We immediately went to the reception to report the issue and requested a duplicate key. Unfortunately, instead of addressing the situation calmly, the staff began blaming and humiliating us. They accused us of intentionally breaking the key, which was both unreasonable and upsetting. We tried to explain that such incidents can happen accidentally and that if we had broken the key intentionally, we would not have reported it ourselves. However, the staff was unwilling to listen and continued to insist that we were responsible. What should have been a simple resolution turned into a 20–25 minute heated argument. Eventually, when we asked for a solution so we could move on, the staff demanded ₹500 as a repair charge for the broken key. Considering that key repairs generally cost much less, the amount seemed excessive. Despite trying to reason with them, they were not willing to reconsider. To avoid further harassment and delay, we paid the ₹500. Overall, this experience left us feeling disrespected and unfairly treated. It appeared that the hotel was more focused on extracting additional money rather than ensuring guest comfort and satisfaction. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Shiv Mahima Hotel to anyone visiting Jaipur. Travelers should be cautious, as unexpected charges may arise during their stay. I also request FabHotels to review and monitor the conduct of properties listed under their brand to ensure such incidents do not happen to other guests
