Mylapore, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Chennai, is located about 8 km south of the city center. The locality is best known as the birthplace of Thiruvalluvar, the celebrated Tamil poet and philosopher from the 6th century AD. Mylapore is also the final resting place of St. Thomas, the apostle of Jesus Christ who came to India to preach the gospel. Thanks to its rich heritage, there is a lot to see and explore in the locality, from age-old temples and churches to modern-day attractions. It is also a cultural hub of Chennai with a rich tradition of classical music and dance to its credit. All in all, Mylapore is a traveler’s paradise and some of the best budget hotels in Chennai are in this locality. Hotels in Mylapore offer you the perfect base while you explore the cultural and historical legacy of the locality and the city beyond.
Tourists staying at hotels in Mylapore, Chennai must explore Luz Corner, one of the oldest shopping hubs in Chennai. The streets here are dotted with quaint stores as well as high-end outlets, including Nalli Silks, Murugan Old Book Shop, and Mysore Silk Palace, to name a few. The City Center Mall in RK Salai is another major place to shop in Mylapore and it houses a good range of shopping, dining, and entertainment options.
For foodies, the restaurants in Mylapore offer the best of South Indian flavors. If you prefer some traditional delights, head off to Karpakambal Mess, Rayar’s Mess, Ratna Café, Mami Tiffin Stall, Namma Veedu Vasanta Bhavan or Anjappar Chettinad. The locality has many multi-cuisine as well, such as 27 Culinary Street, Purple Room, Twenty Fifth Floor, Grill Box, etc.
The key attractions in the locality are the age-old Kapaleeswarar Temple and Santhome Basilica, the 16th-century cathedral, which is believed to have been constructed over the tomb of St. Thomas. Other major tourist attractions in Mylapore include Sri Ramakrishna Math, Adi Kesava Perumal Temple, Luz Church, Nageshwara Rao Park, and Mylapore Tank. Many iconic tourist attractions in Chennai are also easily accessible from Mylapore hotels. These include Marina Beach (4 km), Valluvar Kottam (4.5 km), Elliot’s Beach (7 km), and Fort St. George (8 km).
The International Airport in Chennai is located about 33 km from Mylapore. Since there are no direct local trains between the locality and the airport, taxis/cabs are the easiest way to reach your hotels in Mylapore. Chennai Central, the major railhead in the city, is located about 9 km from the neighborhood. Mylapore has a railway station named Thirumayilai Railway Station on the Chennai MRTS line. You can board EMU trains from here to all major localities in the city, such as Chennai Beach and Velachery. Buses operated by MTC (Chennai) connect Mylapore to the rest of the city including T Nagar, Tambaram, Chennai Central, Vadapalani, and Broadway.
Night support could be better and more courteous, breakfast option was available on booking.com but was canceled when someone from fab called and asked for advance payment thereby canceling that reservation and provided a direct booking with no mention of cancellation of breakfast or the booking.com reservation cancellation
Good for the price, not to expect more.
Rooms are very small, and when I see room in online then very good size room but still I coming then very bad condition and location is not good for beach and not worth it for money
Location wise good. 2 Walking distance to mall and 15 min to beach. Service wise they are really helpful. Issue is regarding cleanliness. There were mosquitoes in room. Budget wise, can be bit more clean. Service wise, they are really good.
Booking through Fab Hotels of the Serviced Apartment is a nightmare. I wanted to change the arrival time and get in touch with the Facility. The phone number given is that of a Call Centre. I contacted on 18th July twice and on 19th, SEVEN TIMES and twice even after I landed in Chennai. It was the same on all occasions - the IVR will say for contacting the Reception dial 6, the reply is, "our team will contact you soon" and disconnected. Even after 9 attempts to contact, nobody from Fab Hotel (perhaps an aggregator) ever replied. I had to manage with the Hotel for early arrival after a discussion. And regarding the Tree Service Apartment, rooms are comfortable, easily accessible and a little off the main roads. Service is satisfactory. NO food is available. When the Attendants bring food or coffee, the rates are exorbitant (compared to the Area and nearby Hotels). General maintenance is Average. The whole experience was awful. I can only give TWO Stars. **
Dirty Bed Linen , Mosquitoes , Unclean Toilet seats , broken furniture, dirty Airconditioner eww..
Room was stinking
Horrible Booking experience, After making the FULL paytment on your website, I did NOT get any "Confirmation or BOOKING ID" even after amount was deducted from my Credit Card. I had to call 15 times, painstakingly after explaining to many people, I was repeatedly asked for the BOOKING ID, One person keeps on sending whatsapp messages asking me to pay "again" for the same stay, Another person keeps on sending emails also asking me to pay, even after sending screen shot of payment made, I got response "booking CANCELLED" AGAIN SOMEONE on whatsapp "ROYARUMITA490" 9289770237 says "from fabhotels Sir, if you have already paid...pls share screenshot with transaction id..." after sharing screen shot of payment made, she messaged "yes you have booked... Then again I got the email from "Dev Negi, Customer Delight Officer" as shared bellow !!! Believing this email, I went to The Hotel, To continue my disappointment I was informed That there is NO BOOKING in my Name ??? again I had to call THREE times from The Hotel and spoke to Poonam who asked me to BOOK again and adjusted my payment of 1277 and asked me to Pay an EXTRA 102, being the difference amount for "PAY AT HOTEL" I had paid 1277 as FULL PAYMENT FOR PAYING ONLINE WHILE MAKING THE BOOKING. So I had to make over 18 calls to 7042424242, many whatsapp messages to 9289770237, several emails to feedback@fabhotels.com and STILL HAD TO WAIT FOR MORE THAT ONE HOUR AT THE HOTEL, AND FINALLY PAID EXTRA 102 AND THEN GOT MY STAY. BOOKING MY STAY WAS A TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
1) the front picture of building is clearly photoshopped, you can see it on Google Maps. Instead, the hotel is located between two slums - one completely abandoned and the other partially. 2) The room was full of cockroaches and mosquitoes, especially toilet. About the last we had no idea where they were coming from since we did not open the window. It turned out that the cockroaches and mosquitoes came from ventilation shaft which seemed located on the side of the abandoned house. It seemed like a not a big deal until yesterday when I had gone to toilet and heard a rat scream in the other side of the shaft. Ran out because of that reason. My mom got even a roach on her bed. 3) The beds did not have the colourful top sheets shown in pictures and the water boiler was not working, it was broken. Yesterday we asked reception and cleaning lady three times to clean the room and change bedsheets, we were away all day and thought not to disturb them to do it. We asked to change bedsheets because they were full of brown and red-ketchup like spots , not clean at all. We came home around 11:30pm and nothing was done, floor dirty, sheets not changed, rubbish bin still full. Overall, all the 3 days were without room service, there was not even a hair fan and warm water, so we are not sure it counts as a 3 star hotel?? 4) when we arrived we had to ask for towels since of the two beds there was only one towel, not even for hands in toilet.
