Surrounded by beautiful hills like Bababudangiri, Hebbegiri, Mullayanagiri and Gangegiri, Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary is where you can say hello (without getting close, of course) to majestic tigers. Its name is derived from the serene Bhadra River, whose tributaries meander through the sanctuary. Boasting rich biodiversity, this sanctuary is home to green, wet deciduous and moist deciduous forests, apart from grasslands. Thorny bamboo, indigo berry, teak, fig tree, rosewood, Ceylon oak and various medicinal plants make the flora interesting here. Wildlife enthusiasts should keep their eyes peeled for spotted deer, elephants, gaurs, wild boars, jackals, pangolins, and black leopards. Colourful birds, flighty butterflies and slithery snakes have made this place their home too.
