Built by the British in 1814, Khalanga War Memorial is a symbol of pride for Gorkhas. During the battle of Nalapani, the first Anglo-Nepalese War, the British were highly impressed by the bravery of the Gorkha army. This is when they built Khalanga War Memorial to honour their enemy. This heritage monument is one of its kind in the country; it is probably one of the world’s first memorials built for the opponent.
